Jose Mourinho has reportedly distanced himself away from the Manchester United managerial post after learning that the board are adamant to replace Louis van Gaal with Old Trafford legend, Ryan Giggs.
The Welshman spent 20 years playing for Manchester United under Alex Ferguson and since the Scotsman's retirement has taken his place alongside the manager as an assistant manager. Giggs was the assistant manager under David Moyes and is now also the same under Louis van Gaal.

Mourinho – who was sacked by Chelsea earlier this season – was reportedly in the running to become the boss at Old Trafford come the end of the season but his reluctance to give a chance to home-grown youth is the stumbling block keeping him from his 'dream' job.
Louis van Gaal has given plenty of debuts to youth players this season including the likes of Marcus Rashford, Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, Timothy Fosu-Mensah and many more. Jose Mourinho, however, has given youth a chance scarcely in all of his former clubs: Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan and Real Madrid.
The Mirror understands that the members of Manchester United board are seriously considering giving Ryan Giggs the chance to take over helm at the Theatre of Dreams; his knowledge of the club through the decades would prove an invaluable asset to both the youth and existing players – much like what's happened with Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid.
Current manager, Louis van Gaal, has said that his insistence to give youth a chance is what landed him the Old Trafford job. Multiple interviews with Ed Woodward and the owners of the club influenced their decision in his favour.
“We discussed young players in my interview," he said.
“We had two conversations, first with Ed Woodward and later with the owners.
“They said what the culture of Manchester United is and why they wanted me. One of the reasons was that I give young players a chance, as we are seeing.
“When you have me as a manager, you have a lot of chances.”
