Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini seems to have turned down the opportunity to manage Brazil, according to reports.

It has been reported in Pellegrini’s native Chile that the Brazilians have reached out to the City boss through his representatives about the prospect of taking the reigns of the Selecao after Luiz Felipe Scolari was relieved of his duties following Brazil’s horror show in the last games of the World Cup.

The ex-Real Madrid manager enjoyed instant success in England last year. In his first year at the helm at The Etihad, the Chilean led the Blues to a Premier League title and League Cup success.

According to El Mercurio in Chile, Pellegrini is thought to be amongst the favourites to succeed ‘Big Phil’.

However, it's now being reported that the Chilean has told The Brazilian Football Federation that he is inclined to stay on at City and doesn’t have an interest in filling the vacant post.

Pellegrini’s men will open their pre-season campaign on Friday against Hearts in Scotland before setting off for the US to take on Sporting Kansas City, AC Milan, Liverpool and Olympiakos in a series of pre-season friendlies.
