London, Sep 12 (IANS) After their recent defeat against Manchester City, Manchester United star Paul Pogba promised on Monday that the former European champions will bounce back with some strong performances in the English Premier League (EPL).

The 23-year-old French international was criticised for his sub-standard performance in the match as Manchester United lost to cross-town rivals Manchester City 1-2 at Old Trafford on Saturday.

"The season is just starting, we don't lose, we learn. United we stand," Pogba wrote on his Instagram account.

Speaking about the derby clash, United manager Jose Mourinho admitted that his team selection had been the root cause of his side's defeat.

He also praised City, managed by his long-term rival Pep Guardiola, saying they were better than us in the first half.

"I had two or three players in the first half that, if I know what is going to happen, I don't play them. But this is football and sometimes players disappoint managers.

"It's my fault because I'm the manager and it's always my fault because it's my choice,'' Mourinho was quoted as saying by the Independent.

"I think in the first half they were much better than us. We started the game bad, with some players really below their normal level in terms of their concentration."

"The second half was completely different. We were in control, we were much more dangerous and we had chances to equalise and who knows what would have happened," he added.
