Manchester United's De Gea to say goodbye?

The signing of the U-21 Spanish and Atletico Madrid goalkeeper made big news as Manchester United was in dire need for a suitable replacement for Edwin Van der Sar. United splashed out on David De Gea when Fergie took a chance on his potential and bought him from Atletico, but his fragility under pressure has not gone away. SAF`s patience is wearing thin with De Gea, and he may be ready to ditch him to look for a better replacement, one who does not make mistakes when under pressure. De Gea has been given a lot of chances to overcome his overcome Achilles heel, and also he is often targeted by the opposition when it comes to set pieces and high balls, and his sheer lack of physique is a problem.

According to the Daily Mirror, the United manager is now in talks with his supremo, David Gill, and the club owners, the Glazers, to buy an actual number one – a player who can keep his cool when under pressure and who can handle set pieces & high balls. Stoke City’s Asmir Begovic is under review, and even Liverpool’s Pepe Reina is a possibility. Begovic has been a giant for the Potters, who obviously do not want to sell. Reina’s future under Brendan Rodgers is less certain. Both can play in Europe this season.
