Mourinho: Beleives Cesc Fabregas is the missing piece

Jose Mourinho has declared himself very satisfied with securing the signature of Cesc Fabregas from Barcelona, with the Portuguese tactician believing that he is the exact sort of midfielder that was missing from his side.

Fabregas was brought in as the first marquee signing for Chelsea with Mourinho hoping to add several other acquisitions as he looks to build around the former Arsenal captain, with the likes of Diego Costa expected to follow suit and move to Chelsea shortly.

Mourinho was delighted that the deal was wrapped up as quickly and a five-year deal signed, playing down any talk of friction between them from his days with Real Madrid and feeling that Fabregas compliments the options he has at his disposal already in perfect fashion.

Mourinho told reporters, “Cesc is a great player that gives a new dimension to our team.

“He’s different from (Nemanja) Matic, Ramires and Oscar. With him we have a comprehensive central midfield. I wanted a midfielder with a certain style and now I have him.

“There are no problems. We had a five minute chat and we cleared everything up. He knows what I think.”

Fabregas arrival had poured doubt on the future of Ramires at Stamford Bridge, with Real Madrid reportedly keen on signing the Brazilian international, but Mourinho has refuted speculation that he will change his midfield options further, defiantly claiming he will remain with Chelsea for next season.
