The newly-appointed Chelsea manager, Jose Mourinho, is getting emotional ahead of Chelsea’s first day clash at Stamford Bridge.

The opener at home against Hull will be Mourinho’s first Premier League game in charge since the goalless debacle with Blackburn in September 2007.

Following the publication of the list of fixtures, Mourinho has already started counting the days until he will come face-to-face with Steve Bruce, the Tigers’s manager.

He said: “It’s an emotional start for both teams but also a very difficult one.

“I am so happy to start at the Bridge but I know Hull will have that fighting spirit of a team just promoted from the Championship, even if they are now in the Premier League.”

Mourinho, who won all four of his opening league fixtures during his first time with the English side, will have to face Manchester United in his second match.
