Chelsea fans slam Mauricio Pochettino's comments after loss to Middlesbrough

Chelsea fans have slammed manager Mauricio Pochettino after his odd comments following their loss to Middlesbrough in the EFL Cup semi-final first leg. The manager was recently speaking ahead of their upcoming Premier League match against Fulham, where he made a wrong statement.

Pochettino was making an attempt to reduce the sting of the Blues' loss to Middlesbrough, who are currently mid-table in the Championship.

His argument was that other Premier League teams had lost to Boro, but he ended up referencing a team that did not lose (via CFCPys):

"Caicedo was telling me his Brighton lost there last season. Many Premier League teams when they play there lose. But we are still alive and will fight again to be in the final when at Stamford Bridge."

Notably, when Brighton and Middlesbrough faced each other at the Riverside Stadium, the Seagulls dealt Boro a strong blow, winning 5-1. Chelsea fans quickly took notice of this misinformation from Mauricio Pochettino and took to social media to express their disapproval.

Chelsea and Fulham brace for west London derby clash

Chelsea are looking set to face Fulham in the Premier League on Saturday in the West London derby.

Fulham are sitting comfortably in mid-table, and they will be fairly content with their campaign so far, as they look fairly safe from any relegation concerns. They've generally exceeded expectations in the league, and they currently sit in 13th place with 24 points, nine points ahead of relegation-threatened Luton Town.

They also happen to be four points shy of Chelsea, who sit in 10th place. The Blues are currently dealing with a season full of unmet expectations, as they are trailing the European spots they were widely expected to be in.

They have had to deal with regular inconsistencies on the pitch, which were rather evident in their defeat to Middlesbrough earlier in the week.

Entering the weekend, the Blues will be looking to find some stability and improve on their current fortunes by snatching all three points in front of their fans. Fulham, on the other hand, will hope to continue exceeding expectations and will look to capitalize on the Blues' struggles.
