Former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie has claimed that Chelsea star Mateo Kovacic would be a perfect signing for Manchester United in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Kovacic, 29, has been speculated to leave the Blues for the past couple of months as he is in the final 14 months of his contract. Moreover, the Stamford Bridge outfit are also aiming to cash in on him soon to balance their books.

According to Football Insider, Manchester United are keen to make the most of the Croatian's situation at his current club. They are willing to table a bid of £30 million as Erik ten Hag is said to be a big admirer of the midfielder.

During an interaction with the aforementioned site, McAvennie was asked whether Chelsea would be prepared to sell a first-team star to one of their Premier League rivals. He responded:

"I think so. I do not think there will be any problems. You can't have 40 people in your dressing room, they had to knock a wall down, that is not right. There is no harmony, there is no togetherness, no bonding. It is too big."

Asserting that the former Inter Milan midfielder would shine at Manchester United, McAvennie continued:

"You have got to get the number of players down to 25. Chelsea have got to get that sorted soon. I can see it though... Kovacic going to Manchester United. He is a decent player and I really think he would do well there."

Should Kovacic join Erik ten Hag's side in the near future, he would become a vital starter in a double pivot alongside Casemiro. He would provide his manager with a good selection headache with Christian Eriksen also keen to shine.

Manchester United to rival Chelsea for Serie A star's signing: Reports

According to Football Transfers, Manchester United are keen to snap up Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic ahead of the upcoming 2023-24 campaign. Erik ten Hag is said to be a huge admirer of the Serb's physical attributes.

The Red Devils are keen to add a first-choice striker to their ranks this summer to fill the void left by Cristiano Ronaldo's exit last year. They are willing to dish out £61 million to rope in the Partizan Belgrade youth product.

Chelsea are also interested in snapping Vlahovic up to address their number nine crisis. However, a potential permanent switch is unlikely as the player has clarified his wish to join a UEFA Champions League-qualified club.

Overall, Vlahovic has scored 23 goals and provided six assists in 62 games across all competitions for Juventus.
