After Arsenal were defeated 1-0 by Nottingham Forest in their latest Premier League clash, Ian Wright pointed out that the Gunners need a number nine in place of Gabriel Jesus.

The Gunners spent £45 million on Jesus in the summer to sign him from Manchester City. While the Brazilian had a bright start to his life at the Emirates, the goals dried up with time.

The 26-year-old also spent a lengthy injury layoff on the sidelines. In 32 games, Jesus has scored 10 goals and has provided seven assists across competitions this season.

Wright believes Mikel Arteta's side need a new number 9. Speaking to Premier League Productions after the Forest clash, he said (via The Boot Room):

“I think what its shown in the last four or five games is how hard it is to chase down Man City. But you do need the squad to be able to do it. Today you saw. Arsenal needed something different, perhaps a focal number nine.”

During Jesus' time at Manchester City, fans often complained about the attacker's lack of goals. While has been crucial in Arsenal's build-up play this season, Jesus failed to establish himself as an out-and-out goalscorer.

With the Gunners set to compete in the UEFA Champions League next season, Arteta needs to bolster his side. Adding an extra striker with Jesus would be a good start in the summer transfer market.

Arsenal have been linked with a move for Dusan Vlahovic

Speaking of strikers, Juventus' Dusan Vlahovic could be on the move in the summer. He was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal before joining the Old Lady from Fiorentina in January 2022.

Vlahovic hasn't been prolific in front of the goal for Bianconerri this season. He has scored 14 goals and has provided four assists in 41 games across competitions this season for the Serie A giants.

According to reports, Juve could look to get some of the €75 million spent on Vlahovic by putting the Serbian up in the transfer market in the summer. The player's agent has reportedly offered the player to Bayern Munich and the Gunners.

The 23-year-old is a proven goalscorer and could be a solid signing for Arteta's side. His profile is that of a player who can be a success in the Premier League.
