Preview: Moody Cardiff will not distract Mourinho’s Chelsea

Cardiff City owner Tan Sri Vincent Tan Chee Yioun

After the brief ecstasy and typical cock-up surrounding the England national team, the passion and excitement of club football returns this weekend and Chelsea entertain Cardiff back at the Bridge after seemingly months away.

First point to address is the bizarre situation up at the creatively named ‘Cardiff City Stadium’. Vincent Tan, Cardiff’s eccentric owner, has decided to part company with their head of recruitment Iain Moody, much to the confusion of everyone, especially after their decent start to the season.

However, Jose mentioned in his press conference that this disruption won’t be shown on the pitch by the visitors and we shouldn’t need off field distractions to overcome teams.

We’ve had a goal laden international break for our players with Oscar, KDB and Schurrle just a few players to have found the net over the past week, the former continuing his immense club form on international level.

The most pleasing aspect has been the lack of injuries our players have sustained whilst away, excluding a slight niggle which keeps Schurrle out. Everyone has returned fit and healthy which means Jose has a full squad to choose from apart from Ashley Cole and long term absentee Marco Van Ginkel.

With Schurrle’s injury we may see KDB back in the fold after a few weeks of reflection for him, hopefully he’ll take the same stance a certain Juan Mata did in knuckling down and getting back in the managers good books. Let’s just hope his dress sense improves drastically too.

I can’t see Jose ‘tinkering’ too much with the line up and fully expect to see an XI of: Cech, Ivan, Luiz, JT, Bertrand, Ramires, Lampard, Oscar, Mata, Hazard, Torres.

Whilst the likes of Ba and Willian impressed against Norwich, they are both 2 of the easier players to drop from the squad and after Torres’s impressive display at WHL, it is surely imperative he starts and, hopefully, finds the net with a goal or 3.

Prediction/Hope

2-0 Chelsea in a professional ‘Jose Type’ performance.
