Chelsea’s hopes of progressing to the semi finals of the Champions League have been boosted by the news that Paris Saint-Germain striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic will miss the second leg of their quarter-final through injury.

The PSG talisman picked up a hamstring injury in last night’s first leg which will keep him out for the next 4-6 weeks, meaning that he will miss both the second leg and any potential semi final – should PSG progress.

The Swedish striker has been in tantalising form for PSG this season, scoring 25 league goals in just 30 league games, and will be a big miss for the French side.

The Swede played 67 minutes of the first leg in Paris before succumbing to injury, although he was largely uninspiring on a rare off-day.

PSG take a 3-1 lead into the second leg at Stamford Bridge next week, making them favourites to progress even without their star striker. Lucas Moura is likely to replace the Swede, with Edinson Cavani shifting from the wide role occupied last night to the lone striking berth.

Ibrahimovic has been directly involved (scored or assisted) in 52.9% of PSG’s league goals this season
