What's the news?

After a 2-1 victory against Ajax in their Champions League round-of-16 tie, Real Madrid winger Vinicius Junior reveals that his team is in the favor of VAR.

In case you didn't know...

The UEFA Champions League clash between Ajax and Real Madrid created a lot of controversies as Nicolas Tagliafico goal in the 37th minute was ruled out with the help of VAR.

It was stated that Real Madrid goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois, was blocked by the offside Dusan Tadic, canceling out the goal to the frustration of the hosts and home supporters.

The decision vastly impacted the outcome of the game and the Dutch side ended up losing the tie 2-1. They will play Madrid at the Santigo Bernabeu in the reverse leg on March 6 and are facing a potential exit from the tournament.

The heart of the matter

Speaking to the journalists after the game, Vinicius Junior reveals that his team is in the favor of VAR.

"We suffer a lot, but we have to suffer to win the Champions League, we suffer in the first part and in the second we play better".

"We had to put a little bit of enthusiasm in it and we managed to make things better and we got the victory".

"Today the VAR has been very good, our team is in favor of the VAR to do the right things".

"With everyone available, we are very strong, and whoever starts the matches will do their best to win."

He also revealed that Karim Benzema helped him settle at the club.

"He is a player who, since my arrival, has helped me a lot to make him better, he does everything to help me and the team."

What's next?

Real Madrid will play Girona and Levante next in the league before hosting Barcelona at the Santiago Bernabeu for the second leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final tie.
