Real Madrid have blamed Tottenham for delaying the transfer of Gareth Bale, report Sky Sports.

The 24-year-old has made back page headlines throughout the summer regarding a move to Real Madrid, but no transfer has materialised as yet, with Real Madrid having made a world record bid for the Welsh winger.

Bale is reportedly ‘furious’ with Spurs and has refused to turn up to training following his return to the United Kingdom after a club authorised break in Marbella.

Real Madrid are confident they’ll get their man before the transfer window closes and their vice-president Fernando Fernandez Tapias said:

“I think it will happen but I cannot make any firm promises.

“We’re going to wait because they are dragging their feet. There are a few problems but I hope they will soon be resolved. We thought that he would be with us now but as of the moment, he is not a Real Madrid player although it looks likely that he will join us.”

Bale has been linked with Real Madrid throughout the summer, but the club are confident they can compete for titles with or without him.

“Even if Bale doesn’t come, we have a brilliant team,” Fernandez Tapias added.

“There is no doubting Bale’s class, but Real Madrid without Bale is a great Madrid, we have a team of warriors.”

Tottenham have been reluctant to let go of Bale before replacing him, and are believed to be close to signing Erik Lamela from Roma and Christian Eriksen from Ajax, after having missed out on Willian, who joined Chelsea.
