Rumour: European giants Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid enter race to sign 'Egyptian Messi' Mohamed Salah

According to reports, former Champions League finalists Borussia Dortmund and Spanish giants Atletico Madrid have entered the race to sign Basel star Mohamed Salah this January window.

The Egyptian impressed in the UEFA Champions League for the Swiss club, which has made the big wigs stand up and take notice. The player also scored a memorable goal against Chelsea to seal a victory for his team at Stamford Bridge in the group stages of the most elite competition of Europe.

Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move for the 21-year old in months following up to the January transfer window, however, recent reports now suggest that negotiations have hit a brick wall.

With Champions League to offer, the coveted winger might favour a switch to Borussia Dortmund or Atletico madrid. However, Liverpool will do everything they can to beat competition and land their primary target this winter.
