Rumour: Chelsea are favourites to sign Luke Shaw

Chelsea have emerged as the favourites to sign Luke Shaw in the summer after it was revealed that his parents already live close to the Blues’ training ground in Cobham.

Shaw has become on of the hottest properties in England after breaking into the Southampton first team, becoming a key figure in Mauricio Pochettino’s back-line.

He is hotly tipped to move on to one of the biggest clubs in the Premier League this summer, with Chelsea battling Manchester United for his signature, while Liverpool have also been credited with an interest.

However, at 18 years of age, Shaw is still a youngster and he may not be keen on moving too far away from his parents and their current location near to Chelsea makes the Blues favourites to secure his signature.

Manchester United were believed to have made an unsuccessful £20million bid for Shaw in the January transfer window and are thought to be preparing a revised bid again in the summer as part of their £150m rebuilding process.

Shaw is expected to leave Southampton for a bigger club after receiving his first call-up to the England squad and his arrival could spell the end for Ashley Cole, whose contract at Stamford Bridge is due to expire at the end of the season.
