Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien looks set to end his time at Stamford Bridge as rumours of a move to Italian giants AC Milan pick up pace.

French newspaper L’Equipe are reporting that the midfielder will sign for Clarence Seedorf’s Milan very soon, with Galatasaray also interested.

There are also reports that his agent was spotted in Milan earlier today to hash out a deal.

Essien signed for Chelsea in 2005 for £24 million and has played 250 games for the west London club, winning the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup in his time there.

He was loaned out to Real Madrid and his former manager Jose Mourinho last season, playing 20 times, but since his return to Chelsea he’s struggled for form and it seems that club are going to cut their losses and allow him to leave for Serie A.

Essien has started just two Premier League games this season and has made one defensive error that led to a goal.
