Premier League giants Manchester City are looking to swoop for outgoing Barcelona legend Victor Valdes, as AS Monaco deal threatens to fall through.

The goal keeper is destined to leave the Nou Camp this summer, with most elite European clubs looking to land him.

Although it was earlier believed that French money bags AS Monaco have agreed a deal with the Spaniard, reports of the deal faltering have now surfaced, which is a major boost for other suitors.

The Citizens have been in the market for an accomplished shot stopper, and were hot in pursuit of the 32-year before AS Monaco had apparently stolen a march on their rival bidders.

With Manuel Pellegrini and the Sky Blues back in the reckoning, they might now be considered favorites to land the veteran.
