Rumour: Napoli eye Arsenal's Bacary Sagna

Fulham's Richardson challenges Arsenal's Sagna during their English Premier League soccer match at the Emirates stadium in London

Napoli are keeping a watchful eye on Bacary Sagna’s contract situation as they prepare to offer him a deal to move to Serie A in the summer, according to Goal.

Arsene Wenger had claimed a deal was close to get Sagna to renew his deal at Arsenal, but with no pen put to paper, Sagna is still currently free to negotiate with other clubs.

The sticking point of the deal has been about the duration of the contract, with Sagna believed to be wanting a new three year deal, with Arsenal’s over 30 policy restricting them from offering such a contract.

Now with no agreement made official, Napoli are hoping to trump Arsenal and snare him away to Italy, with the right-back reportedly open to a new challenge.

Napoli are looking to improve their squad heavily in the summer in order to launch a serious bid for a title challenge, with Rafa Benitez keen to add some experienced personnel to his already impressive squad.

Barcelona’s Javier Mascherano has been linked with reunion with his former boss at Liverpool, while moves for Alex of PSG and Lyon midfielder Maxime Gonalons are also currently being discussed.
