The Footy Mumble: Glazers loot United, Man City want Suarez

Cantona wants to replace Fergie

Manchester United legend Eric Cantona has revealed that he would love to be the one to replace Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United, whenever the Scot decides to retire.

From Pep Guardiola to Solskjaer, everyone has been linked with the job in recent months, as rumors continue to fly about the impending retirement of Ferguson.

The 46-year-old is currently at New York Cosmos as director of soccer, and although he would love to be take the main job at United, he wishes Ferguson would stay on forever.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror, Cantona said: “Alex Ferguson is young, has so much energy, so much love of the game, so many things to give, more and more and more.

“And I love to watch them winning things and I want Ferguson to be manager for ever. He’s a winner, that’s why he has won so many things.

About becoming manager of United, he said, “I would say, ‘United is special, of course I would do it’. Today I’m with the New York Cosmos.

“But if one day there is an opportunity, why not? Like diving from here to the sea, watching, speaking to the fish, octopus, crabs, journalists.”

Zlatan Ibrahimovic scores stunning overhead goal

Roy Hodgson finally tasted defeat as England manager, after his side was beaten by, no not Sweden, but merely Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

His four goals was a testimony to this fact. But what really took away everyone’s breath away was this stunning bicycle kick from 35 yards out, which left England goalkeeper Joe Hart stranded in the middle of nowhere.

Glazers loot United in IPO

If, as a Manchester United fan, you didn’t already hate the Glazers who own the club, here’s a few reasons to start doing so.

New documents by the Stock Exchange Commission have revealed the extent to which the owners have literally looted the club, or to be more polite, minted money while the club made losses.

One damning example is how Malcolm Glazer paid back a £10 million loan taken from the club, by paying himself the equivalent as ‘dividend payment’.

And if that wasn’t enough to convince you, how’s this – Only £68 million pounds from the £140 million raised in the club’s recent IPO in New York was used to reduce the club’s debt.

And in what amounts to mockery of the club, the owners proudly announced yesterday that the club’s debt was now down to a mere £368 million.

City want Suarez, Real want Chicharito

In today’s transfer round-up, Manchester City are linked with a move for Luis Suarez, with the British press claiming that the club were readying a 50 million pound bid for the Uruguayan.

Considering the fact that Suarez signed a new contract just a few months back, which would keep him at Liverpool till 2017, and that City already have 4 very expensive strikers, AND also that he is Liverpool’s only striker at the moment, forget about this one actually happening.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid have been linked with a swap deal for Manchester United forward Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez, with reports claiming that Real would offer United Karim Benzema in return.

Considering the superb form Chicharito is in, and the high regard Ferguson has for the Mexican, a move seems unlikely.

Footballer goes clubbing after claiming to be sick

If you thought Mario Balotelli was one of a kind, it seems we’ve found a worthy competitor in Andrey Voronin, formerly of Liverpool and currently on loan at Dusseldorf from Dinamo Moscow.

The striker claimed he was sick and failed to attend the club’s training sessions, but was found nightclubbing the very same night!

The Ukranian had earlier complained about not feeling part of the team, and it seems he wanted to show his dissent in the most unique way possible.

Roberto Mancini will be happy Balotelli won’t be copying it, however, as he is stuck in Manchester, which team mate Carlos Tevez has already claimed as boring and “..has nothing.”
