Twitter reacts to Ronaldo, Messi and Griezmann being finalized for FIFA Best Player Award

The inaugural edition of FIFA’s BEST Player of the Year Award has been finalised to a three-man shortlist, with Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann contesting the award. The trio have enjoyed quite a successful calendar year, with their exploits in La Liga, the UEFA Champions League, Euro 2016 and the Copa America Centenario earning them their spot.

Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid were the platforms for these players to shine this year, with Cristiano Ronaldo favourite to win the award having won the UEFA Champions League and Euro 2016. There is widespread outrage that Griezmann has made the shortlist, as Luis Suarez and Neymar Jr. also enjoyed successful years with Barcelona, while the Brazilian star also won the Olympic gold.
