Tottenham Hotspur coach Andre Villas-Boas refused to be drawn on the issue of whether Gareth Bale will still be a Spurs player after the transfer window shuts and said that the club are “… building a very, very strong team for the future,” as he looked back on Tottenham’s 5-0 victory in the first leg of their Europa League play-off over Dinamo Tbilisi in Georgia on Thursday.
Andre Villas-Boas, Tottenham Hotspur coach:Question: “In the light of the fact that you did get a good result tonight, is there anything concrete about Gareth Bale and his proposed move to Real Madrid. Can you tell us anything?”“Yeah, we’re building a very, very strong team for the future. I think strong teams are consistent when they have the best players available. You always want to build a strong team from the year before, so our idea is be even stronger than last year, for that to happen, we have to hang on to the best players, we have to invest in the market properly, we have to scout for the best players, we will continue to do so, you have already seen four of our new players here today, so I think in the end, you know, the stronger we look for the future the better.”
