Zenit St. Petersburg got their Russian Premier League campaign off to a winning start on with a 2-1 win at FC Krasnodar.
The first round of matches in the Russian Premier and Zenit St. Petersburg had a trip to FC Krasnodar.
The home side began brightly, but it was Zenit who made the breakthrough. Viktor Fayzulin putting in a rebound after some impressive play by his teammates.
Nine minutes before half time, they doubled their lead. Penalty box pinball, Danny the eventual goalscorer.
It looked like Zenit were cruising to a comfortable win, but Krasnodar came out a different side in the second half. They pulled a goal back just 30 seconds after the restart.
Uruguayan striker Mauricio Pereyra as calm as you like…unlike the commentator.
And Krasnodar began to dominate the match but couldn’t find an equaliser. Zenit held on and ran out 2-1 winners.
