Villas-Boas: Further signings at Tottenham a possibility

SSC Napoli v Chelsea FC - UEFA Champions League Round of 16

Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas may yet welcome some new signings.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Andre Villas-Boas says he is still looking to bring players to White Hart Lane, according to a report on Sky Sports. The 35-year-old refused to comment on speculation linking Spurts to Anzhi Makhachkala’s Brazilian attacking midfielder, Willian for £30 million.

Spurs have already invested considerably in the first team, with big money deals for Nacer Chadli, Paulinho, Etienne Capoue and club record signing Roberto Soldado.

The spending may continue as Villas-Boas admitted he is still looking for players to add to his squad.

He told Sky Sports News: “We haven’t finished.

“I think we have a very good squad and we have obviously already had some activity in the market, but we are a looking further. There is a possibility.”

Willian is reportedly a priority for Tottenham but Villas-Boas was tight-lipped when asked if he could shed any light on the matter:

“Not really. I have spoken about him in the past, very long ago,” Villas-Boas said.

“He is a player that I appreciate, but a player that belongs to Anzhi and I will respect them.”

It could yet turn out that Spurs’ busy summer will be funded by the sale of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid but for now the Welshman remains a part of Villas-Boas’ plans, both domestically and in Europe.

Ahead of a Europa League qualifying clash with Dynamo Tbilisi on Thursday, Villas-Boas added: “He is eligible for selection because he is included in the UEFA team, on the list we put through. But he’s not available because of injury.

“He is going to have a clearing session today (Monday), so hopefully we will get good positive signs.”
