Free Villa. One of the most trending topics on Twitter these days. The term “#FreeVilla” has been extremely popular lately. Almost every Gooner with a Twitter account has at least tweeted this 15 times. And I don’t think it’s only the fans who are excited for this move to happen. Arsene Wenger is as well. He has reportedly, with Barcelona‘s permission, called up David Villa personally and talked about the plans with him.
And this move for Villa would be perfect. At 31, he doesn’t have many years left so we should take him while we can and maximize his potential. Villa would be an amazing asset for Arsenal. Arsenal would suit Villa’s type of play very well and with Cazorla’s long balls and Villa’s finishing, we’ll be banging in goals left, right and center. Villa will also be an amazing influential figure at Arsenal. He’s experienced, he’s a great goalscorer and he’s a brilliant player.
Not only will this move be good for Arsenal but it will be good for Villa as well. He’s 31 and if he wants to see his name on the team sheet in the 2014 World Cup, he has to be in form and prove why he should be the man for Spain. Spain has been an amazing national side in the past five years and they’ll want to continue that run and if Villa wants to help, he has to keep in form and show them, once again, what he’s capable of. With Villa not getting much game time at Barça, he won’t be able to have too many opportunities like this.
Villa is not only a terrific striker but also a brilliant winger who is able to play on both the right and the left sides. With Villa, we would have three names that we can count on, in dead ball situations. Cazorla, Arteta and Villa. Villa has scored an array of brilliant free kicks for Valencia, Barçelona and Spain. And he’s also the fox-in-the-box. The man who’ll finish every opportunity he gets. David Villa will fit in with Arsenal perfectly. The fluid passing, the Spanish touch and with Wenger’s help, David Villa will be able to get back up on his feet and will be able to retire as a great player.
