Willian: Moving to Chelsea has helped my career

Chelsea winger Willian admits his move to west London as helped him further his career and has no regrets about making the switch to Stamford Bridge last summer.

Willian was a target for Liverpool for much of last summer, but the Reds were dealt with a blow when Tottenham Hotspur made a late gatecrash on proceedings.

Just when it seemed that the Lilywhites would sign the Brazilian star from Anzhi Makhachkala, Chelsea and Jose Mourinho made a late move for the winger and ended up luring Willian to the Bridge.

The 25-year-old went on to get a call-up to the Brazil squad for this summers World Cup, which begins tomorrow, and has been backed to shine at the tournament by his team-mate, Branislav Ivanovic.

Willian admits he is happy he made the move to Chelsea and believes it has helped his career.

He told the official Chelsea website: “I am very glad since my arrival at Chelsea I adapted well and played as many games as I did.

“It’s been a good period getting called up to the national team and everything has gone well. I’m very pleased with the way things are going in my life at the moment.

“I feel a little bit nervous. The prospect of playing the World Cup in Brazil is a childhood dream being achieved.”Willian created 64 chances for Chelsea in the Premier League last season – bettered only by Hazard (92).
