Wolfsburg interested in signing Shinji Kagawa and Kevin De Bruyne

Shinji Kagawa’s career has failed to take off at Manchester United

Manchester United’s Shinji Kagawa and Chelsea’s Kevin De Bruyne, both of whom have found opportunities limited at their current clubs, form a part of Wolfsburg sporting director Klaus Allofs wishlist.

Allofs revealed that his club were looking to make some significant signings in the January transfer window and were ready to pursue talented Premier League players such as Kagawa and De Bruyne, who have both played in Germany, if they were to become available.

Kagawa has only made three appearances under new United manager David Moyes, while De Bruyne has found life equally difficult under Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho.

“We want to do reasonable transfers, just like with Luiz Gustavo,” he is quoted as saying by Bild.

“That was exceptional in terms of transfer fee and dimension.”

“We want to continue a selective reinforcement of our squad. Not in a heave-ho style.”

De Bruyne spent last season on loan with Werder Bremen while Kagawa has not really got going since his move from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester United leading to the Japanese playmaker being often linked to a return to Dortmund.

“At Werder, I have seen just how good de Bruyne is, and at Dortmund we have seen how well Kagawa can do,” Allofs added.

“If such players are possible, you of course think about them.”

“But we should not raise the hopes of our fans. In the end they comment: ‘Once again, you failed to sign him’.”
