Yaya Toure: Liverpool are a “big threat” and Man United are “really struggling”

Yaya Toure Man United

Clearly reveling in the current poor fortune of city rivals Manchester United,Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure further put the boot in by suggesting that United are really struggling at the moment. Talking to The Sun, Toure cast doubt on the Champion’s ability to recover from their sluggish start, and further endeared himself to United fans by suggesting that their fierce rivals on Merseyside could pose more of a title challenge.

United’s inevitable problems in adapting to the transition from Sir Alex Ferguson to David Moyes have been well documented, and they currently sit 8th in the league.

“United will find it hard to defend the title since they have a new manager and are really struggling,” suggested Toure.

Further incensing the red half of Manchester, Toure continued on the subject of Liverpool’s strong start to the season.

Liverpool are a big threat at the moment because they have a strong squad and their strikers – Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge – are scoring goals at will.”

The Ivory Coast midfielder may have relished the opportunity to poke fun at United, but it has not been an explosive start to the season in the blue half of Manchester either. Also adapting to life under a new manager – Manuel Pellegrini – City are only two points and one position above their rivals, and currently sit seventh.

City dropped to their relatively lowly position following Joe Hart’s last minute error at Chelsea on Sunday, but the goalkeeper received Toure’s backing;

“Joe is a top keeper who gives his all to the team.”
