Justin Rose opens up about playing 'incredible' Ryder Cup at home turf

Justin Rose earned his sweet triumph at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am on the morning of February 6. The 2013 U.S. Open champion claims to feel a sense of contentment after his long awaited victory, which has motivated him to move back to his home turf in England.

Rose dropped to as low as No. 84 in the world after 2019 owing to his injured back and numerous changes in his coaching and equipment, with his hunt for the perfect set of irons to match his game being notable amongst them.

The downfall that ensued remained so for the following four years, ending finally at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. At a time when even the club's heads are imperative to a golfer’s comprehensive performance, Rose’s change in shaft has seemingly eased his way around his swings.

Justin accomplished a three-shot victory after a four-year long lull in his career since Torrey Pines in 2019, when he was the No. 1 player in the world. Three birdies and four stable pars have steadily led the way to his first big win, securing his path back to the top as No. 35 in the Official World Golf Rankings owing to his recent success.

After being overlooked from selection for Europe's Ryder Cup in 2021, he has seemingly strived to get himself back out there with hopes of becoming a member of Luke Donald's squad in September of this year.

“I feel like in order to win another major you've got to consistently create the chances to win major championships,” said the 42-year-old professional, having made his way into the top 50. “That's the level that I'm hopefully getting very close to. Lifting one of the four major championships would be the ultimate like, ‘Yeah I've still got it,’ feeling.”

As of this week, Justin Rose is also an official member of Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy's newfound TGL golf league. This would serve his overall goal of striving to prove that he remains one of the game's elite players even after his long break.

Justin Rose is currently playing at the Genesis Open commencing today, February 16, to go on till February 19. He appeared to be in good spirits during the press conference held for the Genesis Invitational and seemed to be looking forward to the tournament to steadily make his way to victory.
