Former Hendrick Motorsports driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. recently applauded Rick Hendrick's selfless support to IndyCar ace Will Power and his wife Liz. The HMS owner helped Power's wife escape a near-death situation from a Staph infection that had settled in her spine.

It was back in January when the Team Penske driver's wife was in a critical situation and needed urgent medical care. When Hendrick learned about the situation, he contacted Power and made appointments with the best doctors and specialists in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The 2018 Indy 500 winner recently revealed that the NASCAR Hall of Famer's relentless support saved his wife's life. He narrated the incident during Rick Hendrick's recent visit to Indianapolis Motor Speedway, as he said:

"My wife got very sick in the off-season, and Rick was one of the first people to call me and help me out. When he found out and put me in touch with the best doctors, the best people could take care of it. She was very close to dying. It was a very tough situation. He never stopped calling through the whole process, which, like myself, my wife will never forget."

The two-time IndyCar champion gifted Rick Hendrick a special helmet as a token of gratitude. The NASCAR team owner was humbled by the present as he added:

"Number one I don’t need anything. But man this is something I’ll treasure (pointing to the helmet). I am a big fan anyway but boy I am honored to have it and thank you so much, thank you. I’m just so glad she’s okay."

Dale Earnhardt Jr. chimed in and put a spotlight on Rick Hendrick for his numerous selfless acts off the track. He wrote on X (formerly Twitter):

"I wonder how many times Rick has done this for someone. As long as I’ve known him, I’ve heard stories of him helping others like this."

The recent incident exemplifies how the HMS bossman creates a family atmosphere across the competitions in the motorsports community.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. gives his opinion on controversial NASCAR topic

For as long as it has existed Buschwhacking - Cup drivers participating in the Xfinity Series - has inspired mixed opinions among fans.

Matt Weaver recently expressed his "love-hate relationship" with the practice after NASCAR implemented a five-race limit for experienced Cup Series drivers.

Weaver wants the limit to be raised while Dale Earnhardt Jr. added that raising the limits wouldn't change the current scenario as most Cup drivers were hesitant to make multiple starts.

"There are plenty of cup drivers not running even a single race. The limits aren’t a factor imo," Dale Earnhardt Jr wrote on X .

Dale Earnhardt Jr added:

"I don’t want to speculate why they aren’t choosing to run. But until there are a solid 5-10 cup driver maxing the limit, raising it won’t do much. We had maybe 2 the were limit eligible that reached it in ‘23 (just guessing). And I would suggest if 10 cup drivers did max the limit you would possible be satisfied with the amount of cup competition."

Veteran driver Denny Hamlin added that the situation was not similar to when Buschwhacking was popular as most Xfinity teams require drivers to bring the funding.

While the lack of star power has allowed the younger talent to take the spotlight, the Xfinity Series also has lesser appeal nowadays.
