“It almost had a better feel than our normal tire”: Chase Elliott praises NASCAR’s wet weather tires at North Wilkesboro Speedway

Hendrick Motorsports #9 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 driver Chase Elliott joined several drivers in applauding NASCAR's new wet weather tires running during the Heat Races ahead of the main event.

In damp conditions on the 0.625-mile-long North Wilkesboro Speedway, the grooved tires provided fans with thrilling racing all throughout the field. Drivers headed out on the track after basking in old-school nostalgia of the grassroots type feeling, with positive things to say about the tire.

Elliott elaborated on how the change felt better than normal slick tires in a post-race interview and said:

"The tires went fine actually. I almost had a better feel than our normal tire did, so that was interesting."

The wet weather tires were introduced in NASCAR as a wet weather package for the Next Gen car. They are at promoting racing during damp conditions on short tracks.

Chase Elliott, meanwhile, will look to try and take home the $1 million cash prize for winning the upcoming All Star Race.

Chase Elliott was one of the many NASCAR Cup and nationwide series drivers to participate in the build-up to this weekend's All-Star Race. North Wilkesboro Speedway saw stock car racing action all throughout the week with prime talent of the sport mixing it up with grassroots racers.

The #9 NAPA Auto Parts Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 driver was seen driving in the asphalt late model race at the 0.625-mile-long track. Out of the eight nationwide series drivers at the ASA STARS National Tour Race, the Dawsonville, Georgia native managed to finish in P3 in the race.

Elliott became the second-highest Cup Series driver to finish in the late model series. Teammate William Byron managed to hold on to P2 at the end of the event. With the upcoming All-Star Race on Sunday, Chase Elliott will be eyeing the $1 million cash prize for winning the exhibition race at the track.

Having previously won an All-Star Race, Elliott certainly has the experience as well as the ability to challenge at the front of the field. Coupled with the fast #9 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 and low-grip conditions at North Wilkesboro, the race is expected to be a thrilling show for the fans.
