“Lifespan of that relationship is shorter than Danny DeVito” - Former NFL QB claims Aaron Rodgers won’t stick around with Jets

Another offseason, another round of rumors surrounding Aaron Rodgers' future in Green Bay. The Packers superstar has had a tumultuous time with the franchise's front office over the past few years.

It seemed that the two parties had managed to set aside their differences after signing a contract extension early last year. Rumors of Rodgers exiting Lambeau Field have once again started dominating headlines.

This time around, the New York Jets are being tipped by many to finally land the QB's signature. The team, which has long been in search of a franchise QB, would likely throw the kitchen sink to obtain A-Rod's services, but former NFL star Robert Griffin III believes the pair will be far from a match made in heaven:

"The ceiling is high for the Jets with Aaron Rodgers. But the bottom line is the lifespan of that relationship is shorter than Danny DeVito. So what are the Jets trying to do? Are you trying to build for the next four, five, six years? Or are you trying to have a one or two-year deal with Aaron Rodgers similar to what you had with Brett Favre?"

RGIII, while appearing on Get Up, further went on to detail how the whole situation must be messing with Derek Carr, who too is linked with a move to the Big Apple:

"I absolutely hate it for Derek Carr because you never want to feel like you're an option in a relationship. You want to be the one. You want them to commit fully to you."

From the looks of it, the Jets would benefit best with Derek Carr as their QB1. Being a free agent, they'd end up saving on a ton of draft capital rather than trading for the Packers QB.

It also goes without mentioning the additional cap space they'd save up, signing Carr as Rodgers currently commands a whopping $50.3 million per season, which comfortably makes him the highest-paid QB in the league.

Jets zeroing in on Derek Carr, shower massive praise on former Raiders QB

The New York Jets are in search of a new QB, with Zach Wilson failing to deliver on the early promise he showed. Many believe Derek Carr would be a good fit, given his decade's worth of experience in the league.

NFL Insider Dianna Russini revealed that the two parties have met and shared what she has heard about the potential move thus far:

"I heard it went really well from both sides... They were pretty clear with him. They told him he was a great quarterback. They believe he's got a legit surrounding cast of players. They went through the top young [defense], the strong, young skill guys, the explosive run game..."

The Jets didn't stop there. They reportedly went on to tell Carr that he could end up being a future first-ballot Hall of Famer if they can guide the franchise to its glory days:

"[The Jets] made it super personal. They said, 'We believe if you come to New York and win, you could be a first ballot Hall of Famer.'"

Carr will surely carry a chip on his shoulder heading into the new season. Though the QB has remained cordial going out, the manner in which the Raiders decided to axe their veteran must surely leave a mark.

The Jets could provide Carr with the platform he's looking for in his career to kickstart things again. Alongside highly-touted head coach Robert Saleh, the pair could end up doing the unthinkable and finally break the franchise's half-century-long Super Bowl drought.
