Tua Tagovailoa in concussion protocol: QB likely played second half vs. Packers with serious head injury

There can't be a worse duo in the NFL than Tua Tagovailoa and concussions.

In the Miami Dolphins' 26-20 loss to the Green Bay Packers yesterday, the quarterback suffered yet another concussion.

In the second quarter, Tagovailoa was scrambling and got tackled from behind, with his head hitting the ground rather hard.

Head coach Mike McDaniel stated today that no one noticed anything that would have constituted a concussion for Tagovailoa against the Packers.

Who is the current Super Bowl favorite?

Well, now the quarterback is in concussion protocol, and McDaniels said via Pro Football Talk:

“It was something he met with doctors today and discussed some symptoms."

Given Tagovailoa's history of concussions, it has baffled many to think that no one noticed the incident.

With so much being made of his last concussion and the Dolphins playing him, they could again be in hot water over this as head hits remain a serious problem in the NFL.

Tua Tagovailoa's history with concussions

This is the last thing that anyone involved in the NFL and the Dolphins would want. If it is found that Tua played the second half when he shouldn't have, then we can only imagine the kinds of ramifications that Miami will be facing.

Given Tagovailoa's history (and after his incident against the Bills), one would have thought the Miami medical team would be eagle-eyed on every play Tua is involved in for this exact reason.

It is nearly getting to the point where, if there is a slight chance Tua could have suffered a big hit to the upper body (not necessarily the head), then the Dolphins doctors should simply pull him from the game. No questions, no tests to get him back in the game, just sit him for the rest of the game.

With Miami chasing a playoff berth, they will need its quarterback to be healthy, but after the hit we saw his head take, one can only imagine that he probably isn't in the best of head spaces right now.

With concussions being a major problem in the NFL for current and past players, this is yet another case that has left many wondering how no one could spot the incident as fans watching live and at home could see it.

This has a lot to play out over the next few days.
