Amy Schumer was among the few celebrities who spoke firmly in Colin Kaepernick's favor. After the former QB took the knee in 2016, Kaepernick's career turned upside down within days. In the onslaught of backlash, a few stars ended up supporting Kaepernick.

In a currently unavailable Instagram post in 2018, Schumer revealed that she would no longer be appearing in any Super Bowl ads. Considering commercials on the big game day are just as anticipated, Amy Schumer's statement was a steadfast retort to the NFL.

"I personally told my reps I wouldn't do a Super Bowl commercial this year," Schumer wrote. "I know it must sound like a privilege ass sacrifice but it's all I got... Hitting the nfl (sic) with the advertisers is the only way to hurt them.
"Why not kneel next to your brothers? Otherwise how are you not complicit? Stand up for your brothers and sisters of color."

Before her announcement, Schumer was a part of the 2016 Bud Light Super Bowl advert. The commercial also featured Seth Rogan, who was forming the Bud Light Party, as it was also an election year in the USA. To make things interesting, Ant-Man star Paul Rudd also made a cameo.

Has Amy Schumer's promise continued?

While Amy Schumer has been vocal about her views, the comedian recently featured in a Super Bowl ad. Also featuring Doja Cat and Milwaukee Bucks icon Giannis Antetokounmpo, Schumer starred in a Pixel 7 commercial.

Focusing on the phone's many features, Schumer was seen erasing all her exes in the ad. Though the actress might still support Kaepernick, she has returned to the Super Bowl space.

Kaepernick, on his end, has continued to fight for his cause. From a mini-series on Netflix to various campaigns and events, the former San Francisco 49ers star was pivotal in the protests that followed.

As the intensity of these protests increased, people spoke up more and more about police brutality and 'Black Lives Matter.'

Unfortunately, Kaepernick hasn't played in an NFL game since January 1, 2017. Though the QB has kept in shape and has also been a part of rumors, his career in football might be wrapped up as of now.
