5 wrestlers WWE should sign in 2015

Last year was one of the best years in a very long time for a wrestling fan. From the likes of KENTA (Hideo Itami in NXT) and Fergal Devitt aka Finn Balor being signed by the WWE to AJ Styles unbelievable run in NJPW, there were a lot of positives in the wrestling world. Daniel Bryan who is arguably one of the most beloved and respected superstars today realized his dream, as well as the dream of millions of fans around the world by headlining WrestleMania, and walking out with the WWE World Heavyweight championship.2015 has already kicked off with a bang, with Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn set to pick up where they left off in the Indies with their rivalry. Furthermore, this year can top last years positives, with a lot of top talent being scouted by the WWE. Certain rumors have already started making rounds about a few independent wrestlers being offered a contract by the WWE, and in this article, we take a look at 5 superstars who should be signed by the WWE this year.

#1 Adam Cole

Cole is undoubtedly one of the top talents in the wrestling world today. The former Ring of Honor World champion has been out of action since December due to an injury, but that doesn’t change the fact that he is one of the best wrestlers in the world today. He was also named as the Rookie of the Year in 2010 by Wrestling News Observer, and was also part of one of the greatest stables in the independent circuit – The Mount Rushmore of Wrestling.

Cole also has a history with the current NXT superstars such as Kevin Steen and Sami Callihan. With his impressive physique and his ability to work the mic, Adam Cole will surely be on WWE’s radar, and it is only a matter of when the WWE offers him a developmental contract.

#2 Tama Tonga

Following in his father’s footsteps, Alipate Fifita became a professional wrestler, and started working in the independent scene, most notably in the WWC. He is the son of the legendary Samoan savage – Haku, who worked for the WWE as well as WCW, and is widely considered as the toughest man in the history of the business.

Tonga has been with NJPW for several years, and has also performed for CMLL. He is one of the original four members of one of the most successful wrestling factions in the world today – The Bullet Club. With WWE having a lot of wild Samoan characters in the past, Tama Tonga can be the perfect replacement for Umaga.

#3 The Young Bucks

We’re going to bend the rules here, as it is indeed a huge surprise as to how neither the WWE nor TNA have signed arguably the hottest tag team in the world today. Although The Young Bucks did have a tryout with both the organizations, rumors circulated that neither organization was happy with their attitude. Quoting Randy Orton during his “Legend Killer” days, “It’s not arrogance. It’s destiny”, and it fits perfectly for The Bucks.

Matt and Nick have traveled all over the world, putting on wrestling clinics for the fans, and their fast paced action has been admired and praised by the fans and critics alike. With The Bucks being called the new Hardy Boyz, they have a lot to offer to the WWE, and can revitalize the tag team division in the company.

#4 Shinsuke Nakamura

If you’re a fan of Japanese wrestling, or have at least watched even a little of their product in the last few years, then you know all about the “King of Strong Style”, Shinsuke Nakamura. The current NJPW Intercontinental champion was also the youngest IWGP Heavyweight champion in history, a testament to NJPW’s faith in the super rookie.

It was announced nearly a decade ago that Shinsuke was to train with Brock Lesnar during Lesnar’s time with the company, and WWE had also requested NJPW to bring Shinsuke to the United States to work with the global juggernaut. But with Lesnar leaving NJPW, Shinsuke was immediately brought back to the company to bolster the star power, and has since won many accolades, including being named as the Wrestler of the Year for 2014 by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

#5 Uhaa Nation

There are already rumors going around that Uhaa Nation has already signed a developmental contract with the WWE, with multiple sources claiming that the WWE had signed him in December. Uhaa worked for Dragon Gate USA, as well as its parent company Dragon Gate, receiving praises for his unique style, and the fact that he is a rare combination of a high flyer and a power wrestler.

It remains to be seen when Uhaa will make his much anticipated debut in the NXT, and recent reports suggest that he will start training at the Performance Center from April – May. With his impressive skill set, one can expect great things from him in the WWE.
