#10 Cesar Azpilicueta

Nationality – Spain

FIFA 15 rating – 81 (updated)

FIFA 16 rumoured rating – 82

If there’s one player that deserves an increase in rating in the Chelsea line up for FIFA 16, then it’s Cesar Azpilicueta. Despite not being a natural left back, Cesar Azpilicueta has performed tremendously well in his two seasons at Stamford Bridge and never disappointed the Chelsea faithful.

Dave as he is affectionately called by the Cheslea fans arrived from Marseille as a second choice left back to Ashley Cole in the 2012-13 season under Rafa Benitez but quickly established himself as a first choice defender under Jose Mourinho. His ability to read opponent’s quick counter attacks and intercept them is his strength.

Undoubtedly in the past two years, Cesar Azpilicueta has established himself as one of the best defenders in the Barclays Premier League. With the arrival of Abdul Baba Rehman from Augsburg, Dave is sure to get some competiton but expect him to take the competition in his stride and establish himself once again as the prime left back in the first eleven under Mourinho.

#9 Oscar

Nationality – Brazil

FIFA 15 rating – 84 (updated)

FIFA 16 rumoured rating – 82

Despite Chelsea having won the Barclays Premier League and the Capital One Cup last season, Oscar failed to produce his best football in the position just behind the striker. With Juventus reportedly interested in him during the summer, the former Sao Paulo player decided to stay put.

Chelsea fans will be expecting a big season from the Brazilian, who has underwhelmed them last season. Oscar’s poor form for club last season also reflects in his FIFA 16 ratings in which he has rumoured to drop two rating points. He has decreased from an 84 rating to an 82 rating. Oscar who rose to prominence in his first full debut season at Chelsea would have to increase standards of his performances to have a chance to move back to the 84 rating given to him last year by FIFA.

With Chelsea struggling early in the season and goals are hard to come by, Oscar needs to take the center stage along with Hazard to resurrect their domestic campaign by improving on the number of goals scored by him last season.

#8 Willian

Nationality – Brazil

FIFA 15 rating – 82

FIFA 16 rating rumoured – 82

Willian may have the potential to break any defence in the league with his skills and trickery, but none of those came into the limelight with a mixed last season for the Brazilian, scoring only 4 goals and 5 assists in all competitions.

With Willian not producing much on the attacking front last season and doing litttle in terms of directly assisting and creating chances for his side, the Brazilian will reportedly not see any increase in his FIFA 16 ratings. Willian is more of a right sided Midfielder who attacks as well as defends in equal measure thus limiting his attacking potential in a Chelsea side who like most of Mourinho’s teams are defensive minded.

With Chelsea having already bought a better attacking player than him in the form of Pedro, Willian will definetly have his task cut out this season which might also result in an upgrade in his FUT ratings.

#7 Radamel Falcao

Nationality – Colombia

FIFA 15 rating – 88

FIFA 16 rumoured Rating – 84

Former Atletico Madrid and Colombia striker Radamel Falcao had a very disappointing debut season in England in which he scored only 4 goals in 25 matches. He was blighted with injuries as well as inconsistency which led to a very poor season for the former River Plate player.

Poor performances for Manchester United have resulted in Falcao’s rating being decreased from 88 to 84 in FIFA 16. It was the Colombian’s off-pace performances in red that made United’s minds up, and it’ll be the reason he gets a major cut in his FUT rating for FIFA 16.

However, there is renewed expectation from the Chelsea fans for the Colombia attacker because if there is one manager who can turn his season around then it's Jose Mourinho. With Mourinho reportedly himself asking for the transfer of Falcao to be done, fans can expect a better season from Chelsea’s number 9 this campaign.

#6 Nemanja Matic

Nationality – Serbia

FIFA 15 rating – 83

FIFA 16 rumoured Rating – 85

Nemanja Matic is as good a defensive midfielder as there is in Europe at the moment. He proved so crucial to Chelsea at times last season and is the main reason why they retained the best defence in the land.

He received a FUT card boost in the winter, but will get another for the new game surely. Despite the fact that he lacks pace in comparison to some other midfielders in the game, Matic does possess more height and physicality than other Defensive Midfielders in Europe. His main strength lies in breaking up opposition play and distributing the ball to the forward players quickly for a counterattack.

Matic is certainly Chelsea’s most important player when it comes to stopping the opposition from penetrating the midfield and a future upgrade for the former Benfica man cannot be ruled out.

#5 John Terry

Nationality – England

FIFA 15 rating – 83

FIFA 16 rating – 85

Chelsea club captain John Terry was the best center back by a country mile in the Premier League last season. The performances in the previous campaign by the club captain have led to an increase of 2 rating points in his new FIFA 16 rating.

The man still seems to be at his peak despite the fact he’s hit his mid-30’s, and he’s all set to carry on after penning a new one-year deal recently. However poor performances in recent Premier League matches have led many to question whether the curtain might be about to fall on the club’s currently longest serving player.

Despite having only 40 accelearation in the game, the blues legend is definetly one to not miss out when making an EPL FUT squad on the game. He is ranked 44th in a list of top 50 players in the game.

FIFA 16 rating – 86

In his debut season for Chelsea, the former Atletico Madrid striker scored 21 goals in just 29 appearances for the London side. The 2014-15 season in the Barclays Premier League being a success has led to Diego Costa’s rating in FIFA 16 increased by one rating point.

The Brazilian-turned-Spanish international received a winter upgrade within FUT, but given his struggles with injury in the second half of last season he may not be able to improve upon it. 86 is still the rating assigned to him and it’s still pretty good.

With Chelsea being accused of being goal shy last season as well as this season, Costa who is the focal point of Chelsea’s attack would have to contribute by scoring a hefty number of goals this season.

Despite not performing as effectively in the second half of the season as the first half of the premier league season, Fabregas still received a better rating than what he had last year. Fabregas received an upgraded card in the winter after a superlative start to his career at Chelsea.

Though his productivity tailed off in the second half of the season, the Spaniard is still such a critical part of this side. He should stay at the same level as his FIFA 15 rating.
