FIFA 15: Predicting the ratings of the top 10 Chelsea player

Jose Mourinho's Chelsea had an average 2013-14 season, failing to secure even a single silverware. The departure of veterans Ashley Cole and Frank Lampard to Roma and New York City (later loaned to Manchester City) respectively have added to the troubles of Chelsea, but Mourinho has added a lot of firepower to his squad to balance out their losses.Marquee signingsincludingCesc Fabregas from Barcelona, Diego Costa andFilipe Luis from Atletico Madrid, and also the return of Chelsea legend Didier Drogba has boosted Chelseas chances to win a trophy in theupcoming season.In this slideshow we predict theratings of the top 10 Chelsea players:

#10 Fernando Torres: 80

The Spaniard’s form Chelsea has been dropping since his big money switch from Anfield to Stamford Bridge. Fernando Torres’ rarely scores goals now and even when there is a chance to score open goals, he misses them. The 30 year old had another miserable season with Chelsea. In the 2013/14 season, Torres managed to score just 5 times in 17 appearances in the Premier League. Torres scored a single goal in the World Cup for Spain.

Torres’ rating in FIFA 14 is 82, and after yet another miserable season, his ratings will definitely get a downgrade, and will most likely drop down to 80.

#9 Cesc Fbregas: 86

The Spanish midfielder completed his move from Barcelona to Chelsea in the 2013/14 season for a fee believed to be around £30 million after failing to be one of their consistent starters. Cesc Fabregas has already displayed his talents of creating chances and also scoring goals during his time in the Premier League with Arsenal. Fabregas’ 2013/14 season with Barcelona was above average scoring 8 goals and having 13 assists to his name in the La Liga.

The 27 year old’s World Cup campaign was also mediocre, and he had just one assist of the two substitute appearances he made for Spain.

Fabregas’ rating in FIFA 14 is 86, with a potential growth of 90, and after an above average season with Barcelona, his ratings are most likely going to stay the same.

#8 Diego Costa: 86

Another big name signing by Mourinho, Diego Costa completed his move to Chelsea from Atletico Madrid in the summer transfer window of the 2014/15 season for a fee believed to be around £32 million. The Spaniard was the top scorer for Atletico Madrid in the 2013/14 La Liga campaign which Atletico eventually won. He scored 27 goals in the La Liga and scored 8 goals in the UCL for Atletico. However, he did not have a very good World Cup campaign with Spain with the La Rojas kicked out in the group stages of the World Cup, and Costa failing to find the net throughout the competition.

Costa’s rating in FIFA 14 is 83, and had zero growth. However, that is most likely going to change after his fine goal-scoring form for Atletico Madrid in the 2013/14 season, his rating will definitely get a major upgrade in the upcoming installment. We predict a rating of 86 for Costa.

#7 Oscar: 85

The Brazilian midfielder has been a midfield dynamo for Chelsea, and after the departure of Frank Lampard, the English veteran’s role maybe handed to the young Brazilian. Oscar has had an impressive Chelsea career since his move from Internacional. The 22-year old has scored 8 goals and had 2 assists to his name in the 2013/14 Premier League season. Oscar had a bright start in the World Cup but faded later on in the tournament. He scored 2 goals and has 2 assists to his name from 7 appearances for Brazil.

Oscar has a rating of 82 in FIFA 14 with a potential ability to grow up to 87, and after an impressive 2013/14 season, his rating maybe boosted to 85 in FIFA 15.

#6 Eden Hazard: 87

Previous rating: 86

The Belgian winger has been a nightmare for the Premier League defenders since his debut Premier League season, and has been improving season after season for Chelsea after his move from Lille to Chelsea for a fee believed to be around £32million. The 23-year old had an impressive 2013/14 Premier League season with Chelsea scoring 14 goals and having 7 assists to his name. However, Hazard had an average World Cup campaign having just 2 assists to his name in 4 games.

Eden Hazard’s impressive form for Chelsea will surely lead to a statistical upgrade of his ratings in FIFA 15 to 87 from his FIFA 14 rating of 85. He will also continue to be one of the best players in the game, and will grow up to a minimum of 93 to 94 in FIFA 15.

#5 Andre Schurrle: 83

Andre Schurrle was a pivotal part in the German squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, and despite not being handed a start for Germany at Brazil, Schurrle managed to score 3 goals in substitute appearances for the World Cup winners. The forward also had a good debut season with Chelsea scoring 10 goals in 24 appearances in which he mostly appeared as a substitute.

Andre Schurrle’s rating in FIFA 14 is 80, with the potential ability to reach 85 as the game progresses. After an impressive World Cup campaign, and also a good debut season with Chelsea, his rating maybe boosted to 83.

#4 Gary Cahill: 81

Gary Cahill has been a fan favourite since his move from Bolton in the winter transfer window of the 2011/12 season. The English defender also has an eye for goal, and is dangerous during set-pieces if not marked. However, he did not have a very great World Cup for England, but did show glimpses of a bright future for the English defence.

Gary Cahill’s rating in FIFA 14 is 80, and had a growth of +3 ratings. He will be turning 29 on December, moving towards the prime of his career, so expect his ratings to be boosted to 81 or 82 in FIFA 15.

#3 John Terry: 83

Despite his age, the English veteran has been a solid rock for Chelsea at the back. John Terry has had an impressive 2013/14 season, and managed to score 2 goals, and assist one in the 2013/14 season for the Blues. He was, however, not included in the England World Cup Squad.

John Terry’s rating in FIFA 14 is 83, and after an impressive 2013/14 season, his rating may remain the same in FIFA 15.

#2 Petr Cech: 85

The Czech goalkeeper has been Chelsea’s first-team goalkeeper for a long time now, and had been in fine form in the 2013/14 season making many good saves. Chelsea will be in a dilemma this season in choosing their first-team goalkeeper after the return of goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois from Atletico Madrid. The 32 year old is linked with a move away from Chelsea in the transfer window after the return of the Belgian.

Petr Cech’s rating in FIFA 14 is 85, and considering that he is edging towards the end of his prime career, it is highly unlikely that his rating will be getting any sort of upgrade in FIFA15.

#1 Thibaut Courtois: 86

Thibaut Courtois has been playing for Atletico Madrid for three seasons now, but he will back with the Blues this season. The 1.99 m tall goalkeeper was in terrific form for the Rojiblancos, becoming a pivotal part of the 2013/14 Atletico Madrid squad that won the La Liga, and reached the final of the Champion’s League. The Belgian was also impressive in the World Cup for the Belgium squad which was eliminated in the quarter-finals.

Courtois’ loan has now ended after the 2013/14 season, and he returned to Chelsea for the 2014/15 season.

Thibaut Courtois was rated 84 in FIFA 14, and after a string of impressive performances for his club and country, his rating of 84 may receive a statistical upgrade to 86 or 87. He had a potnetial growth of 88 in the last installment which we presume will marginally go up over 90 with him being one of the game’s best goalkeepers.
