France and Switzlerand announce squads for the Davis Cup final

Switzerland Davis Cup team

Both France and Switzerland named an unchanged squad for the Davis Cup finals which starts next week in Lille.

Gilles Simon, who has been in really good form over the past 2 months could not find a place in the French team. He has been named as a replacement. “It's always tricky. The players are well-matched in terms of their level and their results. I had to make a choice,'' said France captain Arnaud Clement, a former Davis Cup stalwart in doubles. ''But that doesn't mean Gilles won't be one of the four picks because I can change the team right up until the draw. If someone gets injured, I won't hesitate to send Gilles out on court.''

Switzerland captain Severin Luthi did not have any problem while choosing his squad for the finals with Roger Federer and Stanislas Wawrinka quite obviously retaining their places in the team.

Switzerland are looking to win their first ever Davis Cup Final, while France are looking to win their 10th title.

Squads

France – Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Gael Monfils, Julien Benneteau, and Richard Gasquet.

Switzerland – Roger Federer, Stanislas Wawrinka, Marco Chiudinelli, and Michael Lammer.

The finals will take place between 21 and 23rd November at Stade Pierre-Mauroy in Lille.
