The Midtown Mile event at the 2024 Adidas Atlanta City Games has been rescheduled for Sunday, 19 May, citing severe weather conditions. The Games were scheduled to be held on Saturday, 18 May, 2024, in Atlanta, Georgia.

The schedule features events in the youth and other categories, including the 100m, 100m hurdles, 110m hurdles, 200m and field events from 1:00 to 4:15 p.m., and the midtown mile from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m. (all times Eastern). On Saturday, however, weather conditions worsened significantly before the midtown mile.

Due to intense rainfall, the midtown mile event was initially postponed to start on the same day at 9:00 p.m. ET, with its conclusion at 10:30 pm, depending upon the storms.

Eventually, the midtown mile was rescheduled due to the persistent harsh weather and the local neighborhood noise ordinance limiting the amount of permissible noise within residential areas after 10:30 p.m.

The midtown mile will now commence on Sunday, 19 May, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. ET. The Atlanta City Games Organization shared the news with fans on X, writing:

"Unfortunately, due to inclement weather and a 10:30 p.m. neighborhood noise ordinance, the adidas Atlanta City Games - Midtown Mile has been rescheduled to Sunday, May 19 with a 6:00 p.m. start time."

The Organization also issued an apology to fans for the delay and inconvenience caused:

"We understand that some may not be able to compete or spectate and know that many may be disappointed with the change. We hope that you will join us tomorrow for the rescheduled event and the opportunity to pursue or witness some amazing races!"
