U.S. Wrestling Team Trials 2024 Results: Aaron Brooks tops reigning Olympic champ David Taylor in 86kg, Kyle Snyder makes to U.S. team for 3rd time

The U.S. Wrestling Team Trials 2024, which saw competitions across men’s Freestyle, Greco-Roman, and women’s Freestyle events, concluded at the Bryce Jordan Center, in State College, Pennsylvania.

The two-day affair took place on April 19 and April 20, and witnessed wrestlers vying for a spot in the USA squad for the upcoming Paris Olympics.

The USA team at the Games will feature some prominent athletes, who qualified via the trials, including past Olympic medalists such as Kyle Snyder, Kyle Dake, Helen Maroulis, Sarah Hildebrandt, and emerging talents like Aaron Brooks, Mason Parris, Amit Elor, and Dominique Parrish.

So far, the weight classes in which the U.S. has secured berths for the Olympics are 74kg, 86kg, 97kg, and 125kg in the men’s freestyle and 87kg and 97kg in the men’s Greco-roman. Meanwhile, all the weight categories in the women’s division have qualified for the Paris Olympics 2024.

Notably, in the weight classes where the U.S. has already won quotas, the wrestlers have qualified for the Paris Olympics and won’t need to compete again. While, for the weight classes where the USA is yet to win a quota, the athletes who have earned a spot for themselves at the trials will need to earn a quota for the National Olympic Committee (NOC).

Hence, the winners from the U.S. Wrestling Team Trials will have to compete at the World Qualification Tournament from May 9 to 12, 2024, to qualify for the Games.
