WWE Elimination Chamber 2012 Preview

As we embark on a journey in the road to Wrestlemania 28, the next stop has arrived in the form of Elimination Chamber. It is a one of a kind event that at first was just a gimmick match but later on, gained prominence into a pay-per-view based on it. On February 19, 2012, the third annual Elimination Chamber event will take place at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Four matches have been confirmed to take place at the event.

Match 1: Daniel Bryan (c) vs. Wade Barrett vs. Cody Rhodes vs. Big Show vs. The Great Khali vs. Santino Marella

Elimination Chamber match for the World Heavyweight Championship

Daniel Bryan has defended his World Heavyweight Championship numerous times since winning it in December 2011 by cashing his Money in the Bank contract on a vulnerable Big Show. He has found several numerous ways to retain his championship in all of these matches against several opponents. But the fact is that he is still the World Heavyweight Champion. During the course of his reign as Champion he has transformed himself from being a face to a heel. Moreover, he has angered a giant – The Big Show. Whether it will haunt him at Elimination Chamber remains to be seen. Big Show has been waiting to get get his hands on Bryan. He will get his chance at Elimination Chamber. The Intercontinental Champion – Cody Rhodes, enters into this with the ambition of doing a Ultimate Warrior, by being the Intercontinental Champion and World Heavyweight Champion at the same time. Wade Barrett, whose Barrett Barrage fizzled at the Royal Rumble will play a vital role in the outcome of this match. The remaining two participants in this match – Great Khali and Santino Marella, are just here to fill in the numbers due to Mark Henry and Randy Orton‘s absence because of injuries. This promises to be an exciting contest. Expect Daniel Bryan to weasel out of this match with yet another victory.

Match 2: Beth Phoenix (c) vs Tamina Snuka

Singles match for the WWE Divas Championship

Beth Phoenix vs Tamina

Beth Phoenix had emphatically stated few weeks ago that she will remain the WWE Divas Champion ‘forever’ citing the lack of competition in the WWE divas division as the reason. She might have been overconfident in saying so because ‘Warrior Princess’ Tamina Snuka has arrived to wrest the Divas Championship away from Beth Phoenix. Tamina, the daughter of WWE Legend Jimmy ‘Superfly’ Snuka, has been successful ever since she adopted the style of her legendary father. She has been giving Beth Phoenix a run for her money over the past few weeks in singles as well as tag-team matches. Will Tamina succeed in her pursuit of the Divas Championship or will Beth Phoenix reiterate her authority by successfully defending her Divas Championship?

Match 3: John Cena vs Kane

Ambulance Match

John Cena vs Kane, Ambulance Match

Perhaps, the most exciting match of the event. Ambulance matches are held once in a blue moon. The last Ambulance match was held in 2003 at the Survivor Series event. Kane was in that match too, in which he faced Shane McMahon. In fact, Kane had won that match which means that he has experience in this sort of a match. It all started between John Cena and Kane at a Raw Supershow in December 2011 when Kane returned back with the mask. Kane started to attack John Cena, trying to force him to embrace the hate around him. Both men were involved in a singles match at Royal Rumble which ended in a double count-out. John Cena’s friend Zack Ryder has been bearing the brunt of most of Kane’s vicious attacks. Kane has been using Zack’s lover Eve to torment Cena. Last week, Eve and John Cena had a lip-lock which was witnessed by Ryder, leading to a rift between the two men. All these things that are happening around Cena are forcing him turn into a violent unstable character unlike the John Cena which we have seen over the past few years. The question still remains. Will Cena embrace the hate? Will John Cena turn heel?

Match 4: CM Punk (c) vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. Chris Jericho vs. The Miz vs. R-Truth vs. Kofi Kingston

Elimination Chamber match for the WWE Championship

2012 Raw Elimination Chamber match participants

This elimination chamber match for the WWE Championship features six of the most talented Wrestlers in the WWE at present. CM Punk, the reigning champion heading into the match, has been courting trouble with comeback man – Chris Jericho, over the use of the phrase – Best in the World. In fact, Chris Jericho had accused that all his 5 elimination chamber opponents are Jericho wannabe’s. One of those wannebe’s – Dolph Ziggler, an up and coming star in the WWE, has promised that he will steal the show at Elimination Chamber. Fellow trash talker – The Miz, who has lost his affinity with the top brass of the WWE, still has a possibility to main event Wrestlemania for the second year in a row. His former partner – R-Truth, who has turned face recently might finally realise his dream of becoming the WWE Champion. High flying Kofi Kingston has vowed that he will prove that he is not an afterthought by winning this star studded contest. Will CM Punk be able to retain his WWE Championship? The odds are certainly against him. With Chris Jericho earning the right to enter this match as the last participant, it seems like he might have the edge to win this match. I will put my money on either Jericho winning it or CM Punk retaining it. Either way, it is headed for an exciting contest on offer at the Elimination Chamber.

Elimination Chamber is one of those events which packs a punch and delivers value for your money and time. This year too, Elimination Chamber promises to be a blockbuster. Don’t miss it!
