WWE TLC 2011 Preview

Shantha

The final WWE PPV of the year is here. Tables Ladder and Chairs (TLC), one of the most exciting events in the WWE calendar, will feature six highly anticipated clashes involving some of the biggest stars on the roster. Though it might lack the aura of its preceding pay-per-view – Survivor Series which featured The Rock, TLC consists of matches which have the potential to keep the crowd glued to the action. Here’s a detailed preview to all the matches which are scheduled to take place at the PPV.

1. Dolph Ziggler (c) Vs Zack Ryder

United States Championship Match

This intriguing rivalry is all set to reach its climax at TLC. These two men have been at it over the past few months, but Ziggler has been able to fend off Ryder’s challenges with ease. Zack Ryder earned this opportunity to face Dolph Ziggler after a much publicized twitter petition, and also by defeating Mark Henry with the help of his buddy John Cena. This is also Zack’s second shot at the US Title. He failed miserably in his first attempt at Vengeance against the same man. However, of late, Ryder has been dominant and seems prepared for the battle. But Dolph Ziggler is not to be taken lightly. The #heel has taken giant strides over the last few months and has been holding the US title for about 6 months. His charisma and in-ring ability are perfect and he seems to be ready for the next level. Zack Ryder’s buddy John Cena’s involvement in this match is a possibility. Will Ziggler retain his championship or will the Ryder Revolution continue? ‘The Long Island Iced Z’ Zack Ryder has a high probability to defeat ‘Mr. Show Off’ Dolph Ziggler. Woo Woo Woo You Know It!

2. Cody Rhodes (c) Vs Booker T

Intercontinental Championship Match

The ’5 time WCW Champion’ Booker T will face off against the reigning Intercontinental champion Cody Rhodes. This rivalry started when Cody accused Booker T of being a biased commentator. Apparently, Cody felt undone by Booker’s comments against him and vented his anger by throwing water on his face. After a string of violent attacks by Cody Rhodes, Booker T felt disrespected and hence this match came into existence. This match marks the in-ring return of Booker T after the Royal Rumble, earlier this year. After manning the announce booth for about 10 months, he’s back to what he does best – wrestle. With the crowd on his side, Booker may well add another title victory to his resume. On the other hand, Cody Rhodes defends his Intercontinental championship after a long time. He has become more cocky and vibrant after dropping his face mask. WWE has improved his character gradually and this match with Booker will only help him to get better. Will Cody continue his title reign or will Booker spring a surprise by winning another title? We will find out on Sunday.

3. Randy Orton Vs Wade Barrett

Tables Match

The ‘Barrett Barrage’ hits a roadblock in the form of WWE’s Apex Predator, Randy Orton. After months of being under-utilised, Wade Barrett came back into the limelight after his Barrett Barrage began. Since then, he is undefeated and has even defeated Randy Orton once. He also led his team to victory in the Survivor Series match against Team Orton. After that victory, Barrett has been getting into the head of Orton through many sneak attacks, which many a men dare to even think. Randy is seething with anger after such attacks and hence, he is looking forward to this match. In fact, it was Orton who chose this match to be a Tables match after beating Barrett in the Beat the Clock challenge. So, to win this match, one man should put the other through the table. I’m eager to see if the Barrett barrage rolls on or gets stumbled by the viper.

4. Triple H Vs Kevin Nash

Ladder Match with a sledgehammer hanging above the ring

Two long-time friends clash in this ladder match to retrieve the sledgehammer hanging above the ring and use it to cause pain and suffering. Triple H returns to in-ring action after Wrestlemania 27 to face ‘Big Daddy Cool’ Kevin Nash, who turned against him because of being betrayed. Kevin Nash’s return at Summerslam attacking CM Punk and the sequence of events that followed led to the animosity between these two men. They will battle in a ladders match at TLC, which involved retrieving a sledgehammer hanging above the ring. While Triple H is known for using the sledgehammer to optimum effect, Kevin Nash surprised one and all by using it to attack Triple H, a few weeks ago on Raw. This match did not have the build-up like all other matches on the card, and hence people have lost interest in this saga which has been extending for months. Triple H is most likely to win this one and move on, to face the Undertaker at Wrestlemania 28.

5. Mark Henry (c) Vs Big Show

Chairs Match for the World Heavyweight Championship

The World’s strongest man and the World’s largest athlete face off once again for the World Heavyweight championship, in a feud which began . The last two matches involving these two men have ended in controversies. In their first match at Vengeance, the ring collapsed after a humongous suplex by Big Show from the turnbuckles. In their second match at Survivor Series, Big Show won but only through disqualification. So, Smackdown General Manager Theodore Long made this match. Since it is a chairs match, both men are allowed to use chairs to weaken their opponent, which is not possible in a normal singles match. Mark Henry’s injury might work against him. So, this is Big Show’s best opportunity to snatch the World Heavyweight Championship from Mark Henry. The question is whether he will utilise it?

6. CM Punk (c) Vs The Miz Vs Alberto Del Rio

Triple Threat TLC Match for the WWE Championship

CM Punk will be defending his WWE Championship for the first time since he won it at Survivor Series by defeating Alberto Del Rio. This match was setup by the Interim General Manager of Raw, Mr. John Laurinitis. The Miz and Alberto Del Rio won qualification matches to stake their claim as no. 1 contenders for the WWE Championship. John Cena too won the qualification match, but he gave up his opportunity to enable Zack Ryder to get an opportunity for the United States Championship. The Miz claims that he would be WWE Champion again because he is awesome. Alberto Del Rio has proclaimed that it is his destiny to be the WWE Champion once again. So, CM Punk has two problems to be dealt with on Sunday. Moreover, this match is a Triple Threat Tables Ladders and Chairs match, which adds to the woes of CM Punk. Will Punk prove that he is the best in the world by retaining the championship? Or will The Miz prove that he is awesome? Or will Del Rio’s destiny come true? We will find out in a few hours.
