5 Reasons Renee Young and Dean Ambrose should be partnered up on TV

The next ‘it’ couple?

Renee Young and Dean Ambrose have been together for quite some time now, with the duo’s relationship being hidden from the world until just a few months ago when WWE revealed it, courtesy of Total Divas. Since then we’ve seen snippets of the two on the weekly programming, which includes a brief feud with The Miz and Maryse.

That gave fans a taste of what could come in the future regarding the couple.

Of course, there are several things that could change in order to prevent the on-screen partnership, and it seems increasingly unlikely now that Ambrose is over on Raw, but one day it could certainly come to fruition.

Renee is an excellent presenter and is one of the best overall backstage workers that WWE has at its disposal right now, so we don’t want to take away from that persona entirely. This idea would obviously need to be handled with care and whilst we don’t necessarily trust the company 100% to do that, we live in a world of fantasy booking which renders those kinds of factors obsolete.

So with all of that being said, here are five reasons Renee and Ambrose should join forces on TV.

#1 Ambrose needs it

Dean Ambrose is floundering as Intercontinental Champion

Let’s not beat around the bush here – Dean Ambrose is floundering as Intercontinental Champion and his character has been that way for quite some time now. As a babyface, he’s become quite stale, and unfortunately, his alignment shows no signs of changing given his current feud with The Miz over the secondary title.

However, we did notice a change in his personality once he was paired with Renee during the brief feud with the aforementioned Awesome One. He seemed revitalised and intent on protecting the woman he loves, but it wasn’t so overbearing to the point where we became sick of the story. Make Dean great again, please.

This next point is vital to many fans.

#2 Realism

Realism is something product sorely needs right now

Dean Ambrose and Renee Young are a couple in real life – fact. There’s no storyline attaching the two of them and it’s not manufactured, because they first got together long before they were even seen on screen in the same presence. This adds a major sense of realism to the weekly product, which is something that is sorely needed right now.

Take a look at the mixed tag team feud heading into WrestleMania 33. Nobody was expecting to enjoy the build for that whatsoever, but somehow way more people got invested in the program because of one thing: it was all real. Both couples had been together in real life for quite some time, and that instantly made things feel more exciting.

We love a good storyline.

#3 Storyline potential

Lots of story potential with Young involved

Storylines come and go without a trace more often than not, but when it comes to men and women being partnered up together, there’s usually room for more creativity. Whether it’s one of the two turning on the other or the woman being victimised and the man coming to her rescue, there’s a multitude of ideas on the table.

Because of Ambrose usually having a target on his back, as he is the IC Champion, adding Renee to the mix would make for some fascinating television. Plus, given that they’ve been hinting at another Ambrose-Wyatt feud, you could even explore the possibility of Young being kidnapped by the Eater of Worlds.

Let’s talk about the Talking Smack host for a second.

#4 Renees charisma

Young has more charisma than half of the Superstars on the entire roster

After arriving in WWE a few years ago, Renee Young has done brilliantly to establish herself as one of the leading interviewers and presenters in the industry. She’s witty, cute, and has more charisma than half of the Superstars on the entire roster. She’s a great tool for the company to have, and should be utilised in front of the live audience.

Sure she may not be a great in-ring performer, but that wouldn’t be her role. Whatever situation she’s thrust into, you just know she’d be able to land on her feet, because she’s done it a million times before.

If you need an example, just look back at the feud with Maryse: just imagine the pop if she’d have slapped the taste out of the French Canadian’s mouth. Nuclear.

We conclude with potentially the most obvious point of all.

#5 Interchangeable

There’s a simple fix even if things don’t well

If Renee Young and Dean Ambrose join forces on a weekly basis, there’s an argument to be made that they could outstay their welcome as a couple on Monday Night Raw. With that in mind, we’d like to point out one crucial point that negates this idea: Renee can go back to presenting at any point.

It’s happened before and if the company decides they want Ambrose to go back out on his own again, then all they need to do is have Young go back to her everyday duties as the host of Talking Smack. Dean would be able to get back to being a singles star and Renee would still do a great job on the blue brand.

Everyone wins.
