Former Chelsea and Liverpool right-back Glen Johnson has urged his former clubs to launch respective moves to lure Gabriel Jesus away from Arsenal this summer.

Earlier this month, The Athletic claimed that the Gunners are keen to offload Jesus ahead of the next campaign. The team are keen to sell the Brazilian to raise funds and make room for a new offensive signing.

During a recent chat with UK-based betting platform Betfred, Johnson claimed that both the Blues and the Reds should try to add Jesus to their respective ranks. The Premier League winner said (h/t Echo):

"I would be surprised if Arsenal does actually want to sell him because I think that would be crazy. If he does become available, either Chelsea or Liverpool should bite Arsenal's arm off."

Explaining why his former clubs should target Jesus, Johnson added:

"He's not going to get you 25 goals a season, but he's going to be a big part of the team and he works his socks off. In front of goal, he's going to score a lot of goals at a club like that where he'll get a lot of opportunities. Chelsea and Liverpool should absolutely jump at the chance."

Jesus, who joined Arsenal from Manchester City for £45 million in 2022, has netted eight goals in 35 total outings for his club this season. The 27-year-old has laid out eight assists in 1,897 minutes of action so far.

In comparison, Liverpool's Darwin Nunez has registered 18 goals and 13 assists in 3,007 minutes, spread across 53 matches, this season. Chelsea's Nicolas Jackson has bagged 17 goals and contributed six assists in 3,442 minutes of action, across 43 overall games.

Chelsea, Liverpool scout Serie A midfielder

According to HITC, Chelsea and Liverpool are aiming to sign Teun Koopmeiners in the summer transfer window. Both clubs sent scouts to keep tabs on the midfielder in Atalanta's 1-0 Coppa Italia final loss to Juventus, who are favorites to rope in the player, on May 16.

Koopmeiners, who rose through the ranks of AZ Alkmaar, has been in brilliant form for Atalanta this campaign. The 26-year-old left-footed star has registered 15 goals and seven assists in 48 appearances so far.

A box-to-box operator renowned for his great set-pieces, Koopmeiners is allegedly valued at £51 million by Gian Piero Gasperini's side now.
