What's the story?

WWE Hall of Famer Jake Roberts recently talked to Sam Roberts of NotSam Wrestling.

When asked whether he would be comfortable in a backstage role in WWE, Roberts stated that his belief doesn't fit with what the product has become.

In case you didn't know. . .

Jake Roberts is one of the most revolutionary Superstars in WWE history. He enjoyed incredible runs in WWE during the Rock 'N' Wrestling Era, both as a face as well as a heel.

Additionally, Roberts is widely regarded as one of the greatest mic workers in the history of the business. Although "The Snake" never won the World Title, he made enough of an impact on the business to warrant a Hall of Fame ring in 2014.

The heart of the matter

During the closing moments of the interview (starts at the 29:42 mark), Sam Roberts asked Jake whether he would be interested in a backstage role in WWE. Roberts went on to explain in detail how his old school viewpoint didn't fit with WWE's.

It just wouldn't work for me. I got a real problem when it comes to speaking my mind. I can't do it, man. My belief in wrestling does not fit with what they are doing today. I feel they go out and destroy credibility, they destroy wrestling for all that matter. I don't like what the product is today. Nobody sells a damn thing. Everything's a frickin' high spot. The most dangerous wrestling hold today is the schoolboy. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Are you gonna tell me I can hit you with a sledge hammer but I can't beat you with it.... I gotta beat you with a schoolboy! Look at what you're doing, guys. STOP IT. You're making me SICK. Quit pissing on the business that's been so good to so many people, man. FANS LOVE REAL GOOD WRESTLING.

What's next?

Jake Roberts battled his demons and worked with Diamond Dallas Page in DDP Yoga to improve his life. He has been staying out of trouble since then and seems pretty happy with where he's at.

What are your thoughts on Roberts' views? Have wrestling moves lost their meaning?
