WWE News: WWE Christmas and New Year's shows location revealed

What’s the story?

As per Prowrestling.com, the WWE could potentially schedule the Christmas Day edition of Monday Night RAW (December 25th) and SmackDown Live (December 26th) at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois.

Additionally, the New Year’s night edition of RAW has been all but confirmed to take place in Miami, Florida whereas SmackDown could likely air from Tampa, FL.

In case you didn’t know…

The WWE has not broadcasted its flagship show Monday Night RAW on Christmas night since 1986, and December 25th of this year shall be the first time the company does so in a long time.

Besides, the WWE also plans to bring fans a special New Year’s edition of Monday Night RAW live on January 1st—yet another move that the company has been promoting as a ‘Holiday Special’ for the WWE Universe.

The heart of the matter

The WWE’s move of broadcasting RAW live on Christmas as well as New Year’s night has been met with widespread criticism from the professional wrestling community, fans and pundits alike, with many of them labelling the move as unfair towards the WWE performers and their families.

Nevertheless, the WWE seems to be going forward with its plan of bringing fans a live telecast of RAW on December 25th, with SmackDown Live following on the 26th—both tapings taking place at the Allstate Arena near Chicago.

Furthermore, the WWE apparently plans to air its shows live from Florida, with RAW taking place in Miami and SmackDown airing from Tampa. However, contrasting reports suggest that both shows could potentially air from Orlando.

According to Jeff Hardy's wife, it was USA Network's decision to hold RAW on Christmas and New Year and not WWE.

The WWE is yet to officially confirm the aforementioned venues for the Christmas and New Year’s tapings for RAW & SmackDown.

Nevertheless, fans can rest assured that the WWE does indeed plan to put up shows during the holidays in and around the aforementioned areas.

Well, regardless of where the tapings go down, you’ve got to feel for the WWE Superstars who’ll work those dates, which in turn would require them to stay away from their respective families during the year’s most important holidays.
