Jalen Hurts is the starting quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles of the NFL as of February 2025. The Philadelphia Eagles selected him with the 53rd overall pick in the second round of the 2020 NFL draft. Hurts was born on August 7, 1998, in Houston, Texas, and attended Channelview High School in Texas where his father Averion was the coach of the school’s football team. Hurts played his entire high school football under his father before moving on to the University of Alabama to play his college football for the Alabama Crimson Tide. In his last year of eligibility, he transferred to the University of Oklahoma to play for the Oklahoma Sooners football team.

After backing up Carson Wentz for the majority of the season in his rookie campaign, Hurts was given the franchise reign in 2021. In the 2024 season, he led the Eagles to Super Bowl LIX and won the Super Bowl title. He was named a second-team All-Pro in 2022, made the Pro Bowl twice (2022, 2023), and won the Bert Bell Award in 2022. By the end of the 2024 NFL regular season, he has recorded 85 touchdowns, 39 interceptions, 14,667 passing yards, 3,133 rushing yards, and 55 rushing touchdowns (via Pro Football Reference).
