Standing 6 feet 6 inches tall Adrian Griffin was hired as head coach by the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2023 off-season. He played in the nine NBA seasons from 1998-99 to 2007-08. He was a versatile player who could play at multiple positions including, shooting guard or small forward. Griffin played for five NBA teams and averaged 4.2 ppg and 3.2 RPG throughout his career.

Additionally, Griffin previously played for the Seton Hall University Pirates representing their men's basketball team. He went undrafted in the 1996 NBA draft but received a contract from the Boston Celtics in 1999.

As the coach of the Milwaukee Bucks during the 2023/24 NBA season, Griffin tried to overhaul the usual Bucks playstyle completely. Seeking to implement a new system, the Bucks started the season on a great note but they never looked like a contender and lost a few games against their Eastern Conference rivals. Thus, he encountered resistance from key players.

The locker room issues within the Bucks roster eventually resulted in Griffin's firing in January 2024.

According to Spotrac, Griffin signed the Milwaukee Bucks’ multi-year $4 million per year contract. The length of the contract is not disclosed.

After playing nine NBA seasons with different teams, Griffin transitioned his career from a player to an NBA coach. As for now he has spent 15 years as an assistant coach for five different teams.

Adrian Griffin Career as Assistant Coach

In 2008, Griffin started his career as an assistant coach for the Milwaukee Bucks under the head coach Scott Skiles, and in 2010 after spending two years with the team he joined the Chicago Bulls squad for the next five years till 2015.

Additionally, Griffin also worked with the USA training staff for the 2015 FIBA World Cup and assisted the team in winning a gold medal. He coached the superstars like Stephen Curry, James Harden, and Kyrie Irving that year.

In 2015 and 2016, Griffin was hired for one year each for the Orlando Magic and Oklahoma City Thunder. The most productive season for Griffin came in 2019 when the coach won his first NBA championship as an assistant coach for the Toronto Raptors. The team defeated Steve Kerr’s Golden State Warriors in a six-game series.

In the 2023 offseason, Griffin was appointed as a Milwaukee Bucks head coach but just six months into his tenure, he was fired by the Bucks.
