Anthony Davis, is an American professional basketball center/power forward for the Dallas Mavericks in the 2024/25 NBA season. After playing six seasons with the Lakers alongside All-Star LeBron James, he was traded to the Dallas Mavericks mid-season in the 2024-25 NBA regular season on February 2, 2025. According to Basketball Reference, Davis is a three-time blocks champion and has scored over 18,900 points in the NBA, as of April 2025.

Davis was born on March 11, 1993, in Chicago, Illinois, USA. He played for the Kentucky Wildcats men's team of the University of Kentucky for a season. Davis earned many accolades in his one season, including the NABC Defensive Player of the Year, the SEC Male Athlete of the Year, the NCAA blocks leader. and many others in 2012. Eventually, he was drafted as the first overall pick by the New Orleans Hornets in the 2012 NBA Draft.

2012 London Olympics

Anthony Davis made his Olympics Debut with Team USA at the London Olympics and secured his maiden Gold medal. He featured in seven games and played a total of 52 minutes, averaging 3.7 points and 2.7 rebounds per game. He played as a backup big to Kevin Love and Tyson Chandler due to being the youngest player on the roster. He was selected for Team USA right after he finished his collegiate career, where he only played one season and won the NCAA Final. Anthony Davis’ best performance at the 2012 Olympics came against Nigeria and Tunisia, where he played a combined 28:59 minutes and recorded 21 points and nine rebounds. He played less than a minute in the 2012 Gold medal match due to being a backup.

His 4 blocks set a record for the most in a gold medal game since blocks became an official Olympic stat in 1984. Anthony Davis featured in his second competitive tournament with Team USA and played a crucial role in Team USA’s 2014 FIBA World cup win. He was eighth in total points scored (190) and led the World Cup in total blocks (28).
