Anthony Edwards is a professional basketball player for the United States. He plays as a shooting guard in the NBA for the Minnesota Timberwolves. Edward was the first overall pick by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the November 2020 draft. Edwards scored 42 points with 3 assists and 7 rebounds against Phoenix Sun, which was a record then. He became the youngest player after LeBron James and Kevin Durant who scored 40+ points in NBA history. Edwards was second in the vote for Rookie of the Year and was named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team.

Edwards scored 7 three-pointers and a then career-high 48 points against the Golden State Warriors. He became the first NBA player to score 40 points, three steals, three blocks, five three-pointers, and nine rebounds in a single game against the Portland Trail Blazers. He went on to score another career-high 49 points against the San Antonio Spurs. Edwards scored a season-high 8 three-pointers, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, three blocks and three assists in a season-high 44 points against the Houston Rockets. He became an All-Star for the first time in his career on February 10, 2023.

Edwards started his high school basketball career with Therrell High School and was moved to Holy Spirit Preparatory School. Holy Spirit Preparatory School defeated the Heritage School for the Georgia Independent School Association Class AAA state championship.

Edwards played collegiate basketball for the Georgia Bulldogs and earned second-team All-SEC and SEC Freshman of the Year Honors. He earned SEC Freshman of the Year four times in the season before announcing himself for the 2020 NBA draft.

He spent most of his early childhood in Atlanta, Georgia. Edwards used to play in the No.5 basketball jersey since high school, honoring his mother and grandmother, who both died on the 5th of the month due to cancer in 2015. His brother Antonie and sister Antoinette raised him after their death.

Anthony Edwards has worked as an instructor at many youth camps and considered majoring in marketing while attending the University of Georgia. Edwards has also starred in the 2022 sports drama film Hustle as Kermit Wilts and was praised for it. He was skilled in numerous sports in his childhood and played baseball as a hitter in the batting order. Edward also played American football at runningback, quarterback, and cornerback positions in his childhood. He became the best Pop Warner at the age of 10 while playing youth football for the Atlanta Vikings.
