Brandon Xavier Ingram was born on September 2, 1997 in North Carolina, USA. He played for Kingston High School and won four consecutive state championships. He played for a year at Duke for college before declaring for the NBA draft.

He was selected by the LA Lakers as the second overall pick in the 2016 NBA draft, and was named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team. He was one of the youngest players to be drafted that season. The Lakers at the time were building a young team with fresh talents. Ingram quickly gained more play time as he put up good numbers during his first season. His first game was against the Houston Rockets where he scored nine points off the bench. He played alongside D’Angelo Russel and participated in the Rising Stars Challenge at the All-Star Weekend.

Injuries forced him to sit out for most of his second NBA season and he was traded to the New Orleans Pelicans in 2019. He is currently the leading star in New Orleans alongside Zion Williamson.

Ingram's NBA career has not been a smooth ride, facing many injuries and ejections in his early days. With players coming in every season in the NBA, staying in the league is harder than getting into the league. However, in the last couple seasons, Ingram has demonstrated that he can develop his game and control his temperament on court.
